Mumbai Durga Puja 2026: Dates, Timings, Famous Pandals, Rituals and the Stories Behind Them

Where should you go for Durga Puja in Mumbai in 2026, and what time are anjali, Sandhi Puja, bhog and immersion? Compare the historic Kalbadevi puja, North Bombay's film-family tradition, Shivaji Park and Powai communities, plus separately labelled Thane and Navi Mumbai options. Includes directly linked organisers, real Instagram accounts, rituals, artists, family routes and a careful explanation of conflicting 2026 calendars.

Looking for Durga Puja in Mumbai in 2026? If you searched for Abhijeet Bhattacharya's Lokhandwala Durgotsav, begin in Andheri West; if you searched for Kajol and Rani Mukerji's family tradition, look at North Bombay in Santacruz West. Neither name guarantees a 2026 appearance. A music-led evening can mean a neighbourhood cultural stage or a separately accessible auditorium concert. For prayer, you may prefer Kallol's published Goregaon ritual clock, Kalbadevi's old-city programme or a quieter temple setting. Thane and Navi Mumbai deserve their own return journey, not a misleading “nearby Mumbai” detour.

Dates in brief: West Bengal's official 2026 holiday notification lists Mahalaya on 10 October, Shashthi on 17 October, Saptami on 18 October, Ashtami on 19 October, Navami on 20 October and Dashami on 21 October. But Mumbai-area organisers have published some ceremonies from 15 October and use different day labels: Kalbadevi's 2026 programme, for example, calls 17 October Saptami and 18 October Ashtami, then puts Sandhi Puja on 19 October. These are venue schedules, not a single citywide clock. Follow your chosen committee and confirm with its priest before travelling for a particular rite.

Checked 3 October 2026; all clock times are IST. A venue's own page can contain a copied old date or conflicting label. We flag examples below. HI TEA is not an organiser or sponsor of any listed puja; inclusion is editorial, and no linked Instagram account guarantees a celebrity sighting.

Mumbai Durga Puja 2026 dates: why do some calendars disagree?

A date reference versus local committee labels; check ritual hours at the venue
Date West Bengal holiday notice Example of a Mumbai-area organiser's programme What a visitor should do
10 Oct, Sat Mahalaya Preparations and community observances vary. Do not assume an open pandal. Check the actual programme.
15–16 Oct, Thu–Fri Chaturthi/Panchami period in the notification Kalbadevi advertises its Panchami opening for 15 Oct at 7 p.m.; some committees label 16 Oct Shashthi. Check the named committee's public opening and address.
17–18 Oct, Sat–Sun Shashthi and Saptami Kalbadevi and Bengal Association Nerul label 17 Oct Saptami and 18 Oct Ashtami. If anjali matters, use the organiser's stated date and time, then reconfirm.
19 Oct, Mon Ashtami Several programmes place the Ashtami–Navami Sandhi interval on this morning. Its 48-minute clock window belongs to the specific almanac/organiser.
20–21 Oct, Tue–Wed Navami and Dashami Kalbadevi lists Navami 20 Oct and Dashami 21 Oct; NMBA Vashi lists Bijoya Dashami 20 Oct. Ask each committee about sindoor, farewell and immersion; do not merge their dates.

Why the difference? Religious rites follow lunar tithi, local panjika and a committee's programme, while a government holiday notice answers an administrative question. A label printed beside a civil date may vary by organiser. This guide reports the source of each time instead of pretending that one website settles every Mumbai ceremony. The official NMBA Vashi 2026 page even contains a stray “Panchami – September 27” section alongside its October 2026 schedule, and its “Maaer Bhog 12:00 am” entry conflicts with the following afternoon distribution. Treat those details as needing direct confirmation, not as instructions to arrive at midnight.

Anjali, Sandhi Puja, bhog and Dashami: published 2026 times

Here are useful venue-specific examples from current organiser pages. These are not general Mumbai times, and programme revisions, queues and access rules may affect a visit. The label in the committee's schedule may differ from the West Bengal holiday list above.

Organiser and place Date and rite Published time Source and caution
Kalbadevi, Madhav Baug, Mumbai 15 Oct opening 7:00 p.m. 2026 committee programme
Kalbadevi, Mumbai 17 Oct Saptami anjali; 18 Oct Ashtami anjali 11:30 a.m.; 11:00 a.m. Dates use the committee's labels.
Kalbadevi, Mumbai 19 Oct Sandhi Puja; 20 Oct Kumari Puja 7:26–8:14 a.m.; 10:30 a.m. Sandhi is a 48-minute interval here, not a universal Mumbai time.
Bengal Association Nerul, Navi Mumbai 17 Oct Saptami anjali; 18 Oct Ashtami anjali 11:00 a.m.–noon; 10:00 a.m.–noon 2026 venue schedule; its separate panjika uses different day labels.
Bengal Association Nerul, Navi Mumbai 19 Oct Sandhi; 20 Oct Navami bhog distribution 7:26–8:14 a.m.; 12:30–1:30 p.m. Confirm with the association before a time-sensitive visit.
Bengal Association Nerul, Navi Mumbai 21 Oct sindoor; immersion departure 11:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.; from 4:00 p.m. Follow local instructions for procession and immersion viewing.

Planning for Sandhi? Belur Math explains the interval as the last 24 minutes of Ashtami and the first 24 minutes of Navami. Its own 2026 Howrah programme gives 10:28–11:16 a.m. on 19 October, whereas the Mumbai and Nerul pages above publish 7:26–8:14 a.m. These are different published calendars. Belur Math's time is for Belur Math in Howrah, not a Mumbai appointment. For the precise ceremony, contact the puja priest or organiser you plan to visit; some sites may also amend a programme after publication.

What time does pandal darshan open? A posted 7 a.m. puja is not proof that the visitor gate, food stall or car park opens then. A posted 7 p.m. arati is not a promise of a five-minute queue. Check the current organiser page or its dated Instagram post for darshan access and queue arrangements. At a large venue, budget time for security and the walk from your transport stop.

Kalbadevi: the ornament has a maker

The Kalbadevi Sarvajanin Durga Puja Committee traces its founding to 1930 and the jewellers of Zaveri Bazaar. In 2026 it advertises its 97th celebration at Madhav Baug, Cawasji Patel Tank Road, Bhuleshwar, from 15 to 21 October. Its account says veteran artisan members make ornaments for the image. That detail changes how you look: the glitter is craft and community labour, not evidence that every piece is solid gold or that the festival is a jewellery sale. Ask who made the ornaments and the idol, separately. This is a useful first choice if you want a published ritual timetable and a South Mumbai address; leave time for the old-city approach and local traffic restrictions.

Santacruz: North Bombay and a film-family puja

The trust's own history says producer Sashadhar Mukerji, Satirani Mukerji and a founding committee of 26 began this puja in 1948. It remembers a small first celebration in Santacruz and its subsequent growth while describing its gharua, homelike character. Its contact page lists SNDT Campus, Juhu Tara Road, Daulat Nagar, Santacruz West. The trust's history names sculptor Amit Pal and a team from Kolkata for an idol described on that site; check the 2026 committee credit before attaching that name to this year's murti. Come for worship and a community story even if nobody famous attends.

Andheri West: Abhijeet's Lokhandwala Durgotsav, plus a different Aikatan

Abhijeet Bhattacharya's own account dates Lokhandwala Durga Puja to 1996: Bengali families in the Lokhandwala area began it, and the singer became its steward. That explains the city's association between this puja, performance and film personalities. Search or ask for Lokhandwala Durgotsav, Andheri West, and check the latest Lokhandwala Durgotsav Instagram profile for the current ground, gates, artist card, ticket terms and the time of a particular performance. The older site linked from Abhijeet's page was unavailable when checked on 3 October; past descriptions of a music-filled festival do not establish a named singer or concert hour for 2026.

There is also Aikatan Cultural Association Mumbai, a separate Andheri West celebration. Its 2026 social announcement lists 16–21 October at Country Club, off Veera Desai Road. Look for a dated poster from this Mumbai account for the performance lineup and entry conditions. A web search can bring up another Aikatan in Bengaluru, which does not give Mumbai concert times. Do not confuse either Andheri organiser with Krishti or Oikyotan at Lokhandwala Township, Kandivali East.

Bandra West: Notunpalli's film connections and neighbourhood stage

Bandra Notunpalli Sarbojonin Durgotsab is another film-connected community, distinct from the Mukerji family trust and Abhijeet's Andheri puja. Its organiser profile currently advertises 16–21 October 2026. Earlier celebrations at Patwardhan Park have featured dhunuchi, singing and drama; that past venue and previous artists are clues for finding the community, not a confirmed 2026 gate or programme. Ask the Bandra committee for the exact ground and cultural card. Sushmita Sen's documented 2025 visit is a past appearance, not a 2026 booking.

Goregaon West: Kallol Kali Mandir has a usable 2026 clock

Kallol's 2026 calendar puts its Durga Puja at the Kali Mandir complex in Bangur Nagar. The 17 and 18 October pushpanjali begins at 10:30 a.m., with bhog prasad distribution at 1 p.m.; Sandhi runs 7:26–8:14 a.m. on 19 October. Its programme also names Agomoni Sangeet at 8 p.m. on 16 October, without a performer name. The temple is a permanent place of worship as well as a Puja site, so someone who wants a quieter darshan can ask about ordinary temple hours separately from the festival queue. On 21 October its calendar lists sindoor utsab at 11:45 a.m. and the immersion procession at 5 p.m. Check the festival notice before leaving; a procession can change traffic and access.

Borivali East and Kandivali East: three different stages

Sanskriti Sarbojanin lists 15–21 October at BMC Garden Kulupwadi, Meenatai Thackeray Udyan, beside Shri Shri Ravishankar Vidya Mandir near the Western Express Highway in Borivali East. It publishes cultural starts at 8 p.m. on 16, 17, 19 and 20 October, and 7 p.m. on 18 October. On that last day its printed evening arati is 7:30 p.m., so ask how the two activities fit together. Its calendar does not name the performers. The association traces its Puja activity to 1953; its current address and ritual timetable matter more to a first-time visitor than an undated viral clip.

In Kandivali East, Krishti publishes a programme with Rockstars Melody Night (17 October), Bollywood Musical (18), Folk Extravaganza (19), Horikhela dance drama (20) and a Bengali play (21), all advertised for 8 p.m.. Oikyotan publishes a Rik Basu concert on 19 October at 8 p.m. and Mainak & Team's Bengali folk/fusion set on 20 October at 8 p.m. The two are separate committees with separately advertised programmes; their office addresses need not be the stage gate. Oikyotan's page repeats the Saptami label for 17 and 18 October and uses “20:00 PM”, so use the calendar dates and reconfirm. These are Kandivali's Lokhandwala Township leads, not the Andheri Lokhandwala Durgotsav.

Antop Hill and Sion: Prathaa's Puja and Javed Ali gala have two venues

Hoyi Choyi Anondo Foundation (HCAF) advertises Prathaa 2026 at SNDT Women's College, R.A. Kidwai Marg, Antop Hill, 16–21 October. Its Puja page has anjali, arati, Sandhi, a community Anondo Mela and a 19 October staging of Byapika Bidai; the drama's exact hour is not printed. Its separately advertised Javed Ali gala starts 7 p.m. on 20 October at Shanmukhananda Chandrasekhara Saraswati Auditorium, Harbanslal Marg, Sion East. The gala is described as exclusive to members with tiered seating; do not arrive at the Antop Hill Puja expecting a free Javed Ali set. Ask the organiser about membership/pass availability, age rules and door time.

Kemps Corner and Khar: heritage and worship

Bombay Durga Bari Samiti announces its 97th Sharodotsav, 16–21 October 2026, at Mathuradas Vissanji Hall, Kemps Corner, with the theme “Shakti — A Force for Harmony, Not Destruction.” It traces its celebration to 1930, as Kalbadevi does; the two communities have different locations and stories. Its linked Bengali and English calendar files were still labelled 2025 when checked, so obtain the 2026 anjali and show programme directly.

Ramakrishna Math and Mission in Khar West, on 12th Road, is a temple option for someone interested in worship rather than a concert itinerary. Its regular temple page lists 5–11:30 a.m. and 4–9 p.m.; those are ordinary temple hours, not a confirmed 2026 Durga Puja anjali timetable. Ask the Math for festival-specific admission and programme notices.

Shivaji Park: a club, a neighbourhood and the programme around the puja

The Bengal Club traces its club history to 1922. That is the club's founding date; do not automatically describe the 2026 Durga Puja as having started in 1922. Its Durga Puja page shows how puja, music, aarti and competitions fit into its programme, but a past year's description does not establish this year's exact line-up. Shivaji Park is a compelling choice if your family wants worship and a cultural gathering without basing the entire day on a celebrity rumour. Verify the current pavilion entrance and programme.

Powai: two communities with different programmes

Powai Bengali Welfare Association (PBWA) says it was founded in 2006 and documents its Durgotsav in the Powai/Hiranandani Gardens area. Its festival page is a starting point; ask for 2026 dates, gate, bhog and performance details before setting out. Spandan Powai Sharadotsav is a different organiser, with a 2026 programme framing an ekchala protima in sabeki saaj and a chatal for dhunuchi naach and an inter-pandal dhak competition. Its site lists 2026 dates, but also retains old 2025 entries, so open the 2026 day and latest update for the hour you need. A Powai evening is better planned around one community's programme than two assumed adjacent gates.

Thane and Navi Mumbai: strong destinations in their own right

Fulcrum Cultural Foundation says 2026 is its twelfth year in Thane and links a Durga Puja Neerghonto 2026. Its site places the event at Supreme Banquets, Dr Kashinath Ghanekar Natyagruha, Hiranandani Meadows, Gladys Alvares Marg, Thane West. Read the current timetable and access instructions rather than assuming the Mumbai dates table determines a Thane ritual.

In Navi Mumbai, Bengal Association Nerul gives a useful day-by-day timetable at Plot 12, Sector 5, beside SBOA School, Nerul East. Its separate panjika page does not label all days exactly as its event schedule does; confirm the ceremony rather than transferring a label from one page to another. Navi Mumbai Bengali Association (NMBA) advertises a 2026 Sharodotsav at CIDCO Exhibition Centre, Sector 30, near Vashi railway station, with crafts and bhog distribution. Its association office is in Sector 6, a different address from the advertised exhibition venue. The website's 2026 timetable contains old or erroneous entries, so contact NMBA for the corrected card before travelling solely for anjali or immersion.

For Kalyan, Bangiya Sanskritik Parishad's 2026 invitation announces its 62nd celebration at the Kali Mata Mandir premises from 15 to 21 October. It lists a 19 October 8:30 p.m. performance by Sayamh Paul and a 20 October 8 p.m. performance by Ranita Banerjee, as well as a Gambhira folk performance on 18 October at 8:30 p.m. However, its homepage still says 2026 dates and venue are “to be announced” and its temple subpage has unfinished placeholders. Treat the detailed invitation as a promising lead and contact the named Puja committee before committing to the trip; do not fill in absent door or pass details.

NMBA's own social concert announcement advertises Amit Kumar live on 18 October, Ashtami evening. It does not give a reliable stage start hour in the indexed announcement. The venue and access terms should be checked against NMBA's current 2026 event notice; do not mistake its Sector 6 Kalibari for the Sector 30 exhibition event.

Mumbai Durga Puja concerts and cultural programmes 2026: what time do they start?

There are concerts. These are the performances for which an organiser has published at least a date and, in most cases, a start time. “8 p.m.” is a programme's advertised start, not a promise that a singer takes the microphone at 8:00 sharp. Check a dated 2026 poster on the linked site or social account on the day; gates, artist substitutions, weather and passes can change.

2026 organiser-announced music, drama and cultural programme starts, IST, checked 3 October
Date Organiser and performance Published start Where and access note
16 Oct Kallol, Agomoni Sangeet 8 p.m. Bangur Nagar, Goregaon West; artist and seating terms not posted on calendar.
16, 17, 19, 20 Oct Sanskriti cultural programmes 8 p.m. each date BMC Garden Kulupwadi, Borivali East; performers to be confirmed.
18 Oct Sanskriti cultural programme 7 p.m. as printed Same Borivali venue; arati also printed 7:30 p.m., so reconfirm sequence.
17, 18, 19 Oct Krishti: Rockstars Melody Night; Bollywood Musical; Folk Extravaganza 8 p.m. on each respective date Kandivali East; ask Krishti for 2026 stage gate and entry rules.
20, 21 Oct Krishti: Horikhela dance drama; Bengali play 8 p.m. each date Kandivali East; the association office is not necessarily the event ground.
19 Oct Oikyotan: Rik Basu live 8 p.m. onwards Kandivali East; confirm venue gate and access with organiser.
20 Oct Oikyotan: Mainak & Team folk/fusion 8 p.m. onwards Kandivali East; separate from Krishti's programme.
20 Oct HCAF: Javed Ali gala 7 p.m. onwards Shanmukhananda Auditorium, Sion East; members-only, tiered seating, separate from Antop Hill Puja.
18, 19, 20 Oct BSPK Kalyan: Gambhira folk performance; Sayamh Paul; Ranita Banerjee 8:30 p.m.; 8:30 p.m.; 8 p.m., respectively Kali Mata Mandir premises, Kalyan West; invitation is detailed but site homepage retains placeholders, so call to reconfirm.
18 Oct NMBA: Amit Kumar live Evening; hour not announced in linked post Vashi Sharodotsav; reconfirm CIDCO Exhibition Centre stage, access and exact start.
19 Oct HCAF: Byapika Bidai drama and cultural evening Evening; hour not printed Check whether each component is at the Antop Hill arena and any pass conditions.

Searching for an Abhijeet performance, Kajol/Rani appearance, Shaan set or a Bandra stage hour? Their associations or past performances are real, but the relevant 2026 artist/appearance time has not been established by a dated organiser programme checked here. Follow Lokhandwala, North Bombay and Bandra NSDC for updates. An old poster with a familiar singer is not a 2026 booking. For a child's bedtime or an elder's return ride, plan around a published start and allow a buffer for queue and travel.

Why is Durga Puja celebrated, and what changed in Mumbai?

The religious image of Durga as Mahishasuramardini refers to her victory over the buffalo demon Mahisha. The Metropolitan Museum of Art's account of a Durga sculpture connects its weapons and form to the Devi Mahatmya: divine powers that could not defeat Mahisha separately find expression in the goddess. For worshippers, the story speaks to strength, protection and the defeat of destructive forces. A visitor can appreciate that meaning without claiming a myth is a laboratory result. In Bengali Sharadiya celebration, she is also welcomed and farewelled with the intimacy of a daughter returning home; households and regions tell that emotional story differently.

These Mumbai histories are concrete: a club founded in 1922; jewellers starting a puja in 1930; film people and neighbours establishing one in 1948; a Powai association founded in 2006; newer Thane communities building traditions of their own. This is a record of different migrations, workplaces and neighbourhoods rather than a single person “bringing Durga Puja to Mumbai.” The scale changed as volunteers, artists, donors, performers and visitors joined. Across the same city, people also observe Navratri and Dussehra through different practices. Their calendars can overlap; a garba night, a Bengali anjali and a household fast are not interchangeable experiences.

Instagram now makes a ten-second dhunuchi reel or a celebrity arrival travel farther than a whole committee programme. That can introduce someone to a neighbourhood, but a clip strips out the year, the puja's makers, the ritual hour and the conditions of entry. Open the actual organiser account, check the post date, then return to the committee page for the timetable. This is especially important in 2026 because some live pages still display 2025 content.

What will you see? A visitor's guide to the rituals

Meaning and visitor etiquette; the exact sequence varies by tradition and organiser
Moment What it means or looks like A thoughtful way to take part
Mahalaya and tarpan Invocation of the goddess and, where practised, offerings remembering ancestors. Ask if an observance is public; do not treat it as an opening gala.
Bodhan, amantran and adhivas Awakening, invitation and preparatory rites in many Bengali liturgies. Follow the priest and volunteers; quiet matters more than a photograph.
Saptami and nabapatrika Ritual treatment of bundled plants associated with the goddess; customs vary. Ask the committee how its ceremony works instead of assuming one literal interpretation everywhere.
Pushpanjali A flower offering with recitation, often in several rounds. Find the correct queue, ask whether flowers are supplied, and arrive before the advertised slot.
Bhog and prasad Food first offered in worship and then shared, under each organiser's rules. Check serving time, ingredients and any donation/coupon policy; do not push into a distribution queue.
Sandhi Puja The 48-minute transition between Ashtami and Navami tithis. Use this committee's exact clock window, not a viral graphic for another city.
Kumari Puja Worship of a young girl as an embodiment of the divine feminine at some pujas. Protect the child's dignity and follow photography rules; it is not staged for a stranger's feed.
Dhaak, arati, dhunuchi naach Drumming, a lamp offering and, at some community gatherings, dance with smoking incense vessels. Watch from the marked space. Ask before joining; vessels and embers require trained care.
Dashami, sindoor khela, bisarjan Farewell and immersion, with sindoor play in many communities. Participation is optional; ask consent before putting colour on another person and obey procession barriers.

At Spandan's 2026 programme, the ekchala image groups the divine family under a shared backdrop and sabeki evokes an older style. Elsewhere a committee may commission another sculptural language. Dhunuchi naach is not a stunt challenge: the incense is hot and produces smoke. A person with asthma, a small child or someone uncomfortable in a crush may enjoy the music from farther back. Ask a volunteer where the clear air and exit are. A wedding-like costume is not required for a devotional visit; comfortable shoes and respectful space matter more.

Who creates the idol, jewellery, pandal and music?

Do not collapse every craftsperson into “the decorator.” An idol can involve a sculptor and workshop team, bamboo and straw armatures, clay, drying, paint, eyes, hair, fabric, shola or other ornament and a structure built by another crew. Some diaspora or travelling pujas use reusable images and different materials. The lighting, printed signs, drapes, stage, sound, flowers, food and drums are additional work. Rain, delivery distance, hall restrictions and immersion requirements change the design.

Here are two attributed starting points. The Kalbadevi committee says its veteran artisan members craft the ornaments. The North Bombay trust history names Kolkata sculptor Amit Pal and team in its account of its idol. Neither source establishes who made every part of every 2026 installation; obtain the current credit from the committee before naming this year's sculptor, theme artist or lighting designer. If a placard gives a designer's name, ask whether that person designed the pandal, made the murti or both. These are different credits.

A useful family game at a pandal: find five maker credits without photographing anyone who is working or worshipping. Who made the pratima? Who made its jewellery or costume? Who built and lit the space? Who plays the dhaak? Who prepared the bhog? If the answer is missing, ask a volunteer politely. This gives children an alternative to scoring pandals by the length of the selfie queue and gives local workers deserved attention.

Bollywood at Durga Puja: what is history and what is a 2026 announcement?

People search for “Kajol Durga Puja Mumbai,” “Rani Mukerji Durga Puja,” “Abhijeet Lokhandwala Puja” because particular families and artists helped build communities here. A founder, a patron, someone in a historical photograph and a booked 2026 performer are four different claims. The North Bombay trust's own history lists names across decades; it does not publish an arrival schedule for this year.

Where the familiar names actually connect; no 2026 celebrity visit is promised
Name or names Linked community What the source supports What to check for 2026
Sashadhar and Satirani Mukerji North Bombay, Santacruz West Trust account: founding in 1948 with a 26-member committee. Current trust venue, daily rites and concerts.
Kajol, Rani Mukerji and Ayan Mukerji North Bombay Named in the trust's historical account; Kajol and Rani were covered at the 2025 celebration. No verified public 2026 arrival date or hour. Follow the trust, not fan predictions.
Asha Parekh, Dilip Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Bappi Lahiri, Sonu Nigam, Shaan, Pritam, Shankar Mahadevan and Alka Yagnik North Bombay The trust names these people among historical participants or performers over the years; it does not say they all came in one year. Do not convert this list into a 2026 concert lineup.

Instagram and organiser directory: North Bombay · Lokhandwala Durgotsav · Bandra Notunpalli · Aikatan Mumbai · HCAF · PBWA Powai · Spandan Powai · Fulcrum Thane. Some profiles are surfaced from past coverage and may change ownership or handle: open the profile bio and a dated 2026 post before relying on it. Instagram may require sign-in. Use the official website when it supplies a more complete programme.

For an actual sighting, a real-time organiser announcement may be more useful than a guessed hour. Let the Puja's worshippers, children and volunteers move freely; do not block anjali to photograph a visitor. A stage ticket or pass, when offered, is a different kind of access from pandal darshan.

Kali temples near Mumbai and Kali Puja 2026: where and when?

Kali Puja in November is a separate observance from October's Durga Puja. A permanent Kalibari may be open for ordinary darshan throughout the year, whereas a committee can hold one annual Kali Puja in a temporary hall or different ground. If you searched “Kali temple near me,” use the first table; if you searched “Kali Puja 2026 time,” use the second. Night-time pujas often cross midnight, so identify the civil date of each step.

Permanent Kali temples and Kalibaris

Local temple leads; confirm holiday and festival access directly
Temple Address/area Published visitor information
Kallol Kali Mandir Kallol complex, Bangur Nagar, Goregaon West Ordinary darshan 6 a.m.–12:30 p.m. and 5–9 p.m.; Tue/Sat/Sun to 1 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. respectively. October–March evening arati at 7 p.m. Festival access can differ.
Bengal Club Kali Mata Mandir Club premises, Shivaji Park, Dadar The club says it celebrates Kali Puja every Amavasya at its small temple. Ask the club about daily access and November 2026 hours.
Bengal Association Nerul Kalibari Plot 12, Sector 5, beside SBOA School, Nerul East, Navi Mumbai Established 1999. The same page conflicts on ordinary morning opening (7 or 8 a.m.); call before a time-sensitive visit.
NMBA Kalibari Plot 25A, Sector 6, Vashi, Navi Mumbai Association's temple premises; separate from its 2026 Durga Puja at CIDCO Exhibition Centre, Sector 30. Request current darshan hours.
Thane Kalibari 64, Vartak Nagar, Thane West Address published by Thane Smart City; current temple hours and Kali Puja programme were not verified.
Kali Mata Mandir, Bangiya Sanskritik Parishad Plot 39, City Survey 41, Kolivli/Bhagirathi Nagar, off Adharwadi Jail Road, Kalyan West Temple-linked 2026 invitation exists, but the site's temple hours and footer are unfinished; contact the committee for darshan access.
Bassein Bengal Club Kali Mandir Vasai West; verify precise gate with the club Past coverage confirms a Kali temple in Vasai; no authoritative 2026 hours found.
Khopoli Bengali Association Kali Bari Khopoli, Raigad; a separate out-of-city trip Association lists ordinary opening 7 a.m.–noon and 5–9 p.m.; confirm the exact approach and festival hours. Temple inaugurated in 2020.

Sunday 8 November 2026: published Kali Puja programmes

These are committee events, not a list of permanent temples
Committee Published start Location and caution
Kallol Kali Mandir 11 p.m., 8 Nov Bangur Nagar, Goregaon West; arati 1 a.m. and anjali 1:30 a.m. on 9 Nov.
Sanskriti 9 p.m., 8 Nov Association says venue will be intimated later; do not assume the Borivali Durga Puja garden.
Krishti 8 p.m., 8 Nov Kandivali East community; ask for exact Puja ground.
Bengal Association Nerul 8 p.m. in page's prose At its Sector 5 temple. Its table conflicts, printing 8 a.m. and a near all-day anjali window; confirm directly.
Bombay Durga Bari Samiti 8 Nov, hour not published on homepage Ask whether Kali Puja uses its Kemps Corner Durga Puja hall.
Kalbadevi Sarvajanin 10 p.m., 8 Nov in committee programme Confirm November location and overnight sequence before travel.
BSPK Kalyan West 8 Nov; conflicting 9 p.m. schedule and 10 p.m. invitation sentence At its Kali Mata Mandir premises per invitation; ask organiser which hour is correct before a night visit.

For a family member wanting a short devotional visit, Kallol or the neighbourhood Kalibari may make more sense than a long midnight outing. A community's annual Kali Puja is not proof of daily temple opening. The Kallol calendar also puts Mahalaya Amavasya worship on 9 October at 9 p.m., while the West Bengal administrative holiday notice names Mahalaya on 10 October—another reason to use the local committee's clock for the specific rite.

Plan a visit that fits your people, time and money

Four routes, with realistic geography

Andheri/Goregaon western-suburb plan: make a morning anjali at Kallol in Goregaon West if the published 10:30 a.m. slot suits your group. For a separate evening, check the 2026 stage card for Abhijeet's Andheri West Lokhandwala Durgotsav or Aikatan at Country Club. They are not the same event, and neither is Krishti at Kandivali's Lokhandwala Township. Give the group time to rest and arrange a return pickup.

Santacruz/Bandra or a northern stage night: choose North Bombay in Santacruz for its family and film history and Bandra Notunpalli only if its 2026 address and programme are confirmed. If you need a definite published start, Borivali Sanskriti and Kandivali Krishti/Oikyotan have stated cultural times. Pick one stage: a person coming from Santacruz should not assume an 8 p.m. Kandivali performance is around the corner. If an older relative wants worship without a crowd, ask the organiser about seating and a quieter window.

South/central Mumbai day: make Kalbadevi's Madhav Baug your ritual anchor if its timetable matches your aim. Bombay Durga Bari's Kemps Corner hall and Shivaji Park's Bengal Club are separate stops, not adjoining pandals. Prathaa's Antop Hill arena is also separate from its members-only Sion auditorium gala; check pass access before travelling for Javed Ali. Save your return route before evening arati or a concert.

Powai, Thane or Navi Mumbai local plan: choose the place close to your start: a PBWA or Spandan programme in Powai, Fulcrum and Thane Kalibari in Thane on different visits, or Nerul/NMBA in Navi Mumbai. These are separate trips, not a single walkable “Mumbai top ten” circuit. NMBA's Sector 30 exhibition venue is not its Sector 6 Kalibari. Verify the exact gate, last train or ride, and post-event pickup point.

The budget is the full outing, not an imaginary ticket price

Many community celebrations invite visitors, but no organiser's 2026 page checked here supports one blanket claim that every performance, food service or entrance is free. HCAF explicitly labels its Javed Ali auditorium gala members-only, a concrete example of why a darshan plan and concert plan need separate checks. Ask whether there is an entry pass, seat reservation, suggested donation, bhog coupon, parking charge or cashless-only stall. Add transport, return fare, snacks, any gift and the time cost for your group. A family of four need not turn three far-flung venues into a race. One well-chosen puja, an unhurried conversation and an early trip home can be the richer day.

Before heading out, ask the organiser about step-free access, accessible toilets, seating, the distance from the drop-off, loud sound, smoke, queue priority and photography rules. Check current rail and traffic notices close to departure; an old year’s route diversion is not live travel guidance. Agree on a meeting point if a child or group member is separated. Keep water and medicines as you normally would. If you plan to fast, make your own health needs and your clinician's advice the priority; people with diabetes, pregnancy or other conditions should not treat a festival blog as a fasting prescription.

Bhog, outfits, gifts and the cup after you come home

At some Bengali community pujas, khichuri, labra, chutney and sweets are familiar bhog, but menus, vegetarian preparation, serving days, donations and allergens depend on the kitchen. Ask before relying on a meal or promising an elder a no-wait lunch. Outside the puja, Mumbai families may make the day their own with a shared restaurant meal, a homemade dish or sweets for Bijoya. Clothing ranges from saris and kurtas chosen for anjali to whatever lets someone stand, walk and breathe comfortably. Let the wearer and the gift recipient decide; a child, friend, aunt and grandfather do not need prescribed presents by age or gender.

For a Bijoya visit at home, an affordable book, a handwritten note, a favourite sweet, flowers or tea can be more personal than a giant hamper. If tea suits the recipient, HI TEA's ready-to-use cup format gives you a practical way to offer different flavours after the outing. An eight-cup box contains eight individual, 210 ml handleless paper cups; add hot water according to the pack directions. Kahwa may suit a guest who likes a warmly spiced profile, while Mint offers a different taste. Ask the person what they enjoy, check the current ingredient and price pages, and do not present a tea as treatment for fasting, smoke exposure, digestion or any illness. For more choices, visit the HI TEA FAQs. HI TEA is a home-hospitality suggestion here, not a claim of sale, sponsorship or service at these puja venues.

The one-minute Puja route picker

Make the visit a little game before opening another reel. Choose the answer that sounds most like your group:

  1. “I want a confirmed worship hour and an old-city story.” Start with Kalbadevi's 2026 programme. Write down the exact ceremony and its time.
  2. “I want cinema history, but the worship matters more than a star sighting.” Read North Bombay's founding story and check its current Santacruz access.
  3. “I want a published 8 p.m. music or drama start.” Choose an exact Krishti Kandivali date or Oikyotan's Rik Basu/Mainak night; verify the gate and whether you need a pass.
  4. “I want Javed Ali specifically.” Read HCAF's 20 October 7 p.m. gala terms and go to the Sion auditorium if eligible, not the Antop Hill Puja ground.
  5. “I want Kali darshan or Kali Puja.” Pick the Goregaon temple, Nerul Kalibari or a temple local to your starting point. For the November night, use the linked 8 November programme.
  6. “I want dhaak and a community performance in Powai.” Compare Spandan's 2026 days with PBWA's updates; pick one specific programme.
  7. “I live in Thane or Navi Mumbai; I want a nearby celebration.” Check Fulcrum Thane, Nerul or NMBA Vashi, and verify the latest card and return transport.

Bonus puzzle at the venue: can your group identify the sculptor, an ornament maker, a dhaaki and a food volunteer by name or credited team? Ask respectfully, then share a makers-first photograph only with permission. If your chosen puja does not disclose a credit, suggest that it display one next year.

Mumbai Durga Puja 2026 FAQs

When is Durga Puja in Mumbai in 2026?

Major 2026 programmes run roughly 15–21 October, but venue labels and concluding dates vary. Kalbadevi explicitly advertises 15–21 October; NMBA Vashi lists 16–20 October for its five named puja days. The West Bengal holiday list places Shashthi 17 October through Dashami 21 October. Choose your venue first, then use its updated 2026 timetable.

What time is Ashtami anjali in Mumbai in 2026?

There is no citywide time. Kalbadevi and Sanskriti Borivali both publish 11 a.m. on 18 October under their Ashtami labels; Kallol Goregaon publishes 10:30 a.m. that day; HCAF Antop Hill lists 12:30 p.m. onwards. Bengal Association Nerul, in Navi Mumbai, publishes 10 a.m.–noon. Check your chosen organiser's current notice and ask the priest if you need a particular tithi-based offering.

What time is Sandhi Puja in Mumbai in 2026?

Kalbadevi publishes 7:26–8:14 a.m. on 19 October; Nerul publishes the same interval. That does not establish a rule for every committee. Belur Math in Howrah has published a different 2026 interval, demonstrating why a generic search snippet is unsafe for a time-sensitive visit.

Where is the famous Bollywood Durga Puja?

For Kajol and Rani Mukerji, people usually mean North Bombay Durga Puja, founded by Sashadhar and Satirani Mukerji and currently listing SNDT Campus, Juhu Tara Road, Santacruz West. For Abhijeet Bhattacharya, they mean Lokhandwala Durgotsav in Andheri West. Bandra Notunpalli has its own film connections. Past celebrity visits do not promise a 2026 appearance; check each organiser's latest post for venue and access.

Is Abhijeet's Lokhandwala Durgotsav the same as Kandivali's Lokhandwala Township Puja?

No. The singer-linked celebration is in Andheri West's Lokhandwala Complex. Krishti and Oikyotan are separate Kandivali East communities whose 2026 cultural programmes include 8 p.m. starts. An address containing “Lokhandwala” is not enough to identify the stage.

Which Mumbai Durga Puja concerts have published 2026 dates and times?

HCAF lists Javed Ali, 20 October at 7 p.m. at Shanmukhananda Auditorium in Sion, with members-only access. Oikyotan lists Rik Basu, 19 October at 8 p.m., and Mainak & Team, 20 October at 8 p.m., in its Kandivali programme. Krishti has cultural nights at 8 p.m. on 17–21 October; Sanskriti publishes programme times but no singer names. NMBA advertises Amit Kumar for 18 October evening without a confirmed hour in its indexed post. See the full date/venue table.

What are the 2026 concert times for Abhijeet, Kajol or Rani at the pandal?

No dated 2026 organiser timetable checked here supplies an Abhijeet stage slot or a Kajol or Rani arrival time. Kajol and Rani are linked with a family puja, not necessarily a public concert booking. Abhijeet stewards the Andheri West puja, but stewardship does not itself establish a particular show time. Check Lokhandwala's and North Bombay's dated 2026 posts.

Where is Kallol Kali Mandir and when is Kali Puja in 2026?

The permanent Kallol Kali Mandir is in Bangur Nagar, Goregaon West. Its 2026 calendar lists Maha Kali Puja at 11 p.m. on Sunday 8 November; anjali is at 1:30 a.m. on Monday 9 November. The site separately publishes ordinary daily temple hours. Other Kalibaris in Shivaji Park, Nerul, Vashi, Thane, Kalyan, Vasai and farther-out Khopoli are listed above, with source-specific cautions.

Is NMBA's Kalibari the 2026 Vashi Durga Puja venue?

No. NMBA Kalibari is at Plot 25A, Sector 6, Vashi; NMBA advertises its 2026 Sharodotsav at CIDCO Exhibition Centre, Sector 30. Confirm which event you mean before ordering transport.

Is there Durga Puja in Thane and Navi Mumbai?

Yes. Fulcrum Cultural Foundation advertises a 2026 Thane celebration. Bengal Association Nerul has posted its 2026 ritual timetable; NMBA advertises Sharodotsav at CIDCO Exhibition Centre, Vashi. Thane and Navi Mumbai are separate destinations: use the respective organiser's exact entrance and return route.

Where can I see 2026 pictures or Instagram reels?

Start with the organiser Instagram directory: it includes North Bombay, Abhijeet's Lokhandwala, Bandra NSDC, Aikatan Mumbai, HCAF, Powai communities and Fulcrum. A post is useful only when its year, venue, caption and original account match your intended visit. Never assume a 2025 clip shows the 2026 idol, design, artist or guest list.

Who made the Mumbai Durga idols and themed pandals this year?

There is no single citywide maker. Kalbadevi credits artisan members for ornaments; North Bombay's history names Amit Pal and a Kolkata team for an idol described there. Those are attributed source statements, not verified full 2026 credits. Ask the committee for this year's sculptor, theme and lighting credits before assigning them to a particular 2026 installation.

Is fasting, incense or a tea flavour scientifically necessary for the festival?

No medical effect is established by the ritual's cultural meaning. Fasting choices differ by household and should respect individual health needs; smoke can trouble susceptible people. Tea is a drink and a gesture of hospitality, not a cure. You can participate in a way that fits your faith, comfort and health.

The lasting Mumbai memory may be a person's name. Ask the volunteer who knows the anjali time, the artisan who made an ornament, the dhaaki who set a rhythm, or the relative who chose to sit and listen. The film history, the old jewellers' puja and the newer communities all grow through such work. Check this year's timetable, choose a visit that fits your people, and carry that story home.
